The book “Engines of Economic Growth: Seeds of Practical Ideas” is a reference for researchers on the economic scene in Jordan during the past five decades through an integrated, scientific and analytical account of the most prominent drivers of economic growth during this period.
While the book attempts to take an analytical look at the past, it looks forward to the future, especially with regard to the leading sectors that are expected to drive growth in the coming decades, especially in the wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, modern technological developments and the radical changes that the world has witnessed in the wake of the Corona pandemic.
Dr. Kandah’s book, throughout its chapters and sections, touched on the evolution of the structure of the leading sectors in the growth of the Jordanian economy, according to their contribution to the GDP since 1976-2020, to shed light on the major transformations in the sectors that lead growth in the Kingdom. The book also stressed the need to support the small business sector. and medium enterprises to raise financing rates, in addition to calling on banks to move to the work stage by adopting green financing policies and introducing various creative financial tools and applications to enhance financial inclusion, and their cooperation with financial technology companies.
In the folds of the book, Dr. Qandah indicated that the Jordanian economy needs a positive shock that establishes hope and restores the dream, especially in light of the prolonged slowdown that the Jordanian economy has been experiencing for ten years.
Looking at the forward-looking dimension of the book, Dr. Qandah indicated in it the necessity of activating the role of the digital economy as a means of economic development, as the Jordanian economy is dependent on several factors, however, the rise in GDP over the next ten years will reflect the positive impact of the potential recovery that will start in 2022 to advance from The state of domestic slowdown, and stagnation in the global economy.
